TESTOSTERONE REPLACEMENT THERAPY FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Testosterone Replacement Therapy is a medically supervised treatment used to restore testosterone levels in men who have clinically low levels and associated symptoms. At FMH, TRT is only prescribed following comprehensive blood testing, medical assessment and suitability screening.

Symptoms of low testosterone can include persistent fatigue, low motivation, reduced libido, mood changes, difficulty building or maintaining muscle, increased body fat and reduced mental clarity. However, symptoms alone are not enough, proper blood testing and clinical evaluation are essential.

When prescribed appropriately and monitored regularly by qualified medical practitioners, TRT can be a safe and effective treatment for suitable patients. Ongoing blood work and medical review are part of responsible hormone optimisation.

Testosterone therapy can impact sperm production and fertility. If fertility is a concern, this should be discussed during your consultation. Alternative treatment approaches may be considered where appropriate.

Some men notice improvements in energy and mood within weeks. For others, changes occur more gradually over several months. Response varies based on individual physiology, lifestyle and baseline hormone levels.

MEDICAL WEIGHT LOSS FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Medical weight loss is a structured, clinically supervised approach to fat reduction that may include prescription medication, nutritional guidance and lifestyle optimisation. It is designed for men who have struggled to achieve sustainable results through diet and training alone.
Many men understand the basics of nutrition and exercise, but still struggle with appetite control, cravings, energy regulation or metabolic resistance. Medical weight loss addresses the physiological drivers of weight gain — not just willpower.
Suitability depends on factors such as BMI, metabolic health, medical history and previous weight loss attempts. A medical consultation and blood testing are required to determine if prescription treatment is appropriate.
Where clinically indicated, prescription medications may be used to help regulate appetite, improve satiety and support metabolic function. All treatments are prescribed only after proper assessment and in accordance with Australian medical guidelines.
Our approach prioritises preserving lean muscle mass while reducing excess body fat. Resistance training, adequate protein intake and structured guidance are strongly encouraged alongside treatment.

HAIR LOSS FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

The most common cause of hair loss in men is androgenetic alopecia (male pattern hair loss). It is largely genetic and influenced by the hormone DHT (dihydrotestosterone), which affects hair follicles over time. Stress, nutritional deficiencies and certain medical conditions can also contribute.
Hair loss can often be slowed and, in some cases, partially reversed — particularly when addressed early. The goal of treatment is typically to stabilise shedding and support regrowth where viable follicles remain.
Evidence-based treatments may include prescription medications that reduce DHT activity or stimulate hair growth. Treatment suitability depends on individual assessment and medical history.
Hair growth cycles are slow. Most men require at least 3–6 months to notice visible improvement. Consistency is essential for results.
When prescribed and monitored appropriately, hair loss treatments can be safe and well tolerated. Potential side effects are discussed during consultation to ensure informed decision-making.

SEXUAL FUNCTION FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Yes. Erectile dysfunction (ED) is extremely common and affects men of all ages. While risk increases with age, younger men can also experience difficulties due to stress, hormonal imbalance, cardiovascular factors or psychological components.
ED can result from a combination of physical and psychological factors, including reduced blood flow, hormonal imbalance, anxiety, stress, metabolic issues and lifestyle factors. Identifying the underlying cause is key to effective treatment.
Not always. While stress and anxiety can play a role, many cases have an underlying physiological component. Hormonal imbalance, cardiovascular health and metabolic markers are important considerations.
Treatment depends on the root cause. Options may include prescription medication to improve blood flow, hormone optimisation where clinically indicated, and lifestyle changes to support cardiovascular and metabolic health.
Yes. Consultations are conducted via secure telehealth, and medications are dispensed through licensed pharmacies with discreet packaging.
